Rockstar Takes GTA 6 Secrecy to Another Level

Few game studios guard their work as fiercely as Rockstar Games, and new details emerging from a Glasgow Employment Tribunal have laid bare just how far the company goes to protect GTA 6. In an opening statement, Rockstar compared keeping the game's details under wraps to Apple shielding its iPhone lineup or Coca-Cola defending its legendary recipe — a level of secrecy it says goes "exponentially beyond" what most employers demand of their staff.

Drones, Privacy Film, and Strict Internal Rules

Rockstar's security concerns aren't just theoretical. According to testimony at the tribunal, the studio discovered that drones were being flown near its offices in an attempt to photograph the inside of the building and spy on employees at work. In response, Rockstar coated its windows with specialist privacy film to block aerial snooping.

Beyond that physical threat, the studio has rolled out a range of measures to lock down information internally:

  • Strict no-photography rules apply to anyone visiting the premises
  • External storage devices such as USB drives are banned from the workplace
  • Information security standards are described as far stricter than typical corporate environments

These details emerged during a tribunal in which Rockstar is accused of unlawfully dismissing 34 GTA 6 developers based in the UK and Canada — allegations the studio is contesting.

What This Means for GTA 6 Fans

With the game still on course for its November 19, 2026 release, Rockstar clearly wants every remaining surprise intact when players finally get their hands on it. The extraordinary lengths the studio is going to suggest there is still plenty about GTA 6's world, story, and gameplay that has not been publicly revealed.
